Interview Anxiety: Reps Before the Real Thing

The role you did not apply for. The answers that vanished the moment someone asked. Interview anxiety costs quietly, in jobs you never got to be considered for. It doesn't have to stay that way.

    How it actually works

Conquer Fear breaks interview anxiety into steps so small they're hard to flinch at. Saying three of your work stories out loud, alone, is a real step. You log your anxiety from 0-10 before and after each step, and you watch the number drop as your brain updates on evidence, not pep talks. The approach is inspired by exposure principles, one of the most researched ways to work with fear.

    Example first steps

    1. 1Say three of your work stories out loud, alone
    2. 2Record yourself answering "tell me about yourself" and watch it back
    3. 3A ten-minute mock interview with a friend or an AI
    4. 4Apply to one role you would not take, as a practice rep
    5. 5One real interview framed as training, with anxiety logged before and after

    Questions people ask

    What if I freeze?

Freezing is the untrained state, not your ceiling. Each rep at a survivable level raises the point where the freeze happens, which is why the practice interviews matter as much as the real one.

Do I have to do anything scary on day one?

No. Day one might be three stories said out loud in an empty room. If a step feels too big, you make it smaller. That's the whole method.

    Is this therapy?

No. Conquer Fear is a self-guided tool for personal growth. It is not therapy and it is not a substitute for professional care. If you are struggling or in crisis, please reach out to a professional or a local crisis line.

    How long does it take?

There's no timetable, though a fortnight of reps before a real interview changes a lot. Small and often beats big and once.

What if I try a step and can't do it?

Then you log it. The app records it as "Showed up", because turning up to a step you didn't complete still teaches your brain something. Nothing is wasted, and you can repeat the step or make it smaller before you try again.
